Mission Statement

In ISM, my mission is to expand my professional network to gain knowledge concerning dermatological conditions and enhance my skills by learning from certified dermatological medical specialists. By doing so, I will be able to learn about innovations and techniques in observing aspects of dermatitis and aspects of topical treatments. As I expand upon horizons during ISM, I hope to demonstrate an all-encompassing sense of kindness, an undying sense of perseverance, and a mindful sense of patience.
My Story

I am currently a senior at Frisco High School, where I am studying dermatology through the Independent Study and Mentorship Program (ISM) at my school. I am a licensed Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) and have worked at various hospitals including Baylor Scott and White, Medical City Plano, and Prestonwood Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

I chose to continue my journey with ISM so that I could expand my professional circle and meet professionals in the field of dermatology while creating valuable relationships before graduating high school. While I have found my tasks as a CNA lively and engaging, I found that I wanted to conduct further in-depth research on a topic that I am interested in pursuing as a career. Furthermore, I feel that my experiences as a CNA have allowed me to explore various sub-specialties in medicine to find topics I truly enjoy. Through my research as a CNA and personal experiences concerning friends and family, I decided that dermatology was a specialty that I feel would suit both my interests and aspirations.

Throughout my whole life, I have leaned toward a career in medicine. In ISM I will have the perfect opportunity to gain new perspectives and experiences under my mentors as I conduct my research. I am a founding officer of the March of Dimes Chapter at my school and secretary for the Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA). Outside of school, I enjoy playing the guitar and piano, both competitively and non-competitively for the Music Institute of North Texas (MINT). My interest in the medical field and passion for helping others granted me various opportunities such as performing in medical seminars at Rice University and performing CNA tasks at various well-respected hospitals and nursing facilities.
